Hi all, Does anyone know if there is a link to reinstall internet explorer 8 ?

My IE8 doesn't seem to be saving id logins and passwords anymore, have tried resetting it also running Microsoft Fix It, and this hasn't solved the problem.

So would like to uninstall and reinstall from scratch.

You can't actually do that, but try this:

Click the Start Orb and type in "features" into the search, then use "Turn Windows features on or off" from the list. Be patient while the list loads, then uncheck IE8 and restart. Log into your account again and do the same thing, this time put back the checkmark for IE8 and restart again.

But before you do that, perhaps there is another way to deal with your issue. I am curious if you actually ticked the option to remove all User Preferences when resetting IE8? Also, the most basic thing is to see if you haven't actually unchecked the option for saving passwords in IE.

Reinstalling IE8 probably won't fix it either.

Go through every setting in Internet Options and clear/delete/reset everything.

Then,,, go into Control Panel / Credential Manager
or
Control Panel / User Accounts and Family Safety / Credential Manager

Check to see if there is anything listed there.
Delete entries till it starts working again.

Don't know if that will work, but worth a try.

Also, note,, some secure websites will not allow you to save userID's and or Passwords.
It's a security risk to do so.

Also,, do you by chance have CCleaner installed?
I do recommend it's use, but only recommend the latest version.

Hi gtiboy - If you end up deciding to reinstall IE8, why not download IE9 instead - I've been using it for a couple of months and I think it's a lot better than IE8. Some nice new features !!!!! :):):)

...My IE8 doesn't seem to be saving id logins and passwords anymore...
IE8 doesn't continue to ask to save logins or passwords you have already saved, even if they are wrong or duplicated. It provides no way to correct past errors or omissions. There is a handy program that will let you view your IE logins and passwords and delete the ones that you want to do over: IE PassView - Password Manager Program for Internet Explorer
