Windows 7 Install KEY Question

Heard a rumor that if you enter key DURING install it voids the key, how is everyone installing?

Install, then enter key IN windows 7?

or

Install, enter key in INSTALL?

Please clarify it for me, about to install.

I haven't heard that rumour but it doesn't sound right to me. Go ahead and enter it either way...it will work

I did an upgrade install and entered the Win 7 key when asked. Install was fine and activation worked without problems.
