Windows 7 installation CD format problem UDF format

Hey guys, I downloaded Windows RC ISO file, there's a readme file that reads "This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification."

What exactly does UDF mean here? Plus, that ISO has a size of over 2GB, but when I open it using tools like ISO buster and UltraISO, it is shown to have a size of only several kBs. Why is that?

I ventured to burn that ISO file onto a blank DVD using Alcohol 120% ,but when I tried to install it, I was promted no bootable record was found on the DVD.

Can anyone help ?

1) When you DL an ISO, you don't need to open it up with UltraISO or any thing else. If you're already running Win7 it has a native ISO image to disc burner. If you're using Vista / XP, grab Alex Feinman's ISO Recorder v3

2) If you want to use a third party tool ,that's fine, but use it on a virgin DL - IOW, ***DON'T*** play with it in UltraISO or anything like that - DL it and burn it to disc.

I'm just not understanding what you are trying to say here ..

I downloaded the Win 7 rar files under an "academic download" program .. Un-rar'd them to an iso and burn the iso with Nero .. very straightforward
The resulting disk cannot be read under Win7 build 7100 RC because of this UDF stuff problem ... what next ?
heck as a test, I did do exactly the same with the Dutch version and that is readable without a problem (but it does not install because of conflicting system language issues)
Plse elaborate ? Did MS muck up this one?

hmm i have a litle bit different problem... i download from our free zone batman 7 gb... in parts by 900 Mb.. extrat from rar and got a 7,8 Gb iso image... i've run alcohol.. install the game without problems and before that i delete all parts and left just iso image... build a 2 now parts 1st 4,29 Gb 2cond 3,56 Gb...
i've run a CyberLink Power2Go try to burn it on dvd but error...
it's about UDF memory.. or something.. and try it again with nero.. and destoy my empty dvd...

i've try now to catch that error and show to u in JPEG but... burning starts.. ??hmm strange???

i don't know what i'm do but i think i've fix it.. heheeheheh

i've put it on auto
and works... :=)

I've got the same prob!
When I look at the (100% official) installation dvd in explorer (win 7 rc), I sometimes see the content & at other moments just the text file with the UDF-error.

Has anyone found a solution yet??

I have a similiar problem and I do not know how I did this. I was transferring my pictures from camera card to a CD. I burn the pictures onto the CD. I tried to burn 2 more and it said CD is corrupt. The CD is now a UDF file. Now I cannot see those pictures that I transferred and it is getting me upset. I went to Microsoft and it said to download a Hotfix, but to make sure that it is the correct on, or just wait for the next version of Service Pack #2. I am kind of naive to all this. Please help me so that I can see my pictures. I have also read that Windows 7 does not support UDF files. So how did my CD become one in the first place. Please help.
