I am trying to install windows 7 on my hp pavilion dv6-2165tx laptop. I bought the laptop with windows 7 HP installed on it. Then I had to format the disk and install ubuntu. Now I want to install windows on it so I formatted the disk. But when I go to the fourth step of the installation I get "CD/DVD driver is missing plug a dvd/floppy/usb to install it" something like this. After giving a dvd driver I get message "device driver missing ".I tried a lot but I can't go any step further.
I tried to repair the computer in the second step but it shows an existing (X:) of size 30MB on it and it has "program files" and "windows" and "Users" and "System" folders in it. I think it is the part of the previous windows on it. I tried to remove it but it shows "access denied" for the folders and files. I tried to restore the windows but due to denied access to the files of X: , I can't do that too :(
any suggestions...

I saw all those and tried for almost every thing still I can't get things fixed. In my the BIOS system of my laptop I can't see whether mode of SATA operation is set to AHCI or anything else, there is no such option to see for it.In the installation I provided the driver for machine/disk/cpu from the existing X: but none of these works.

I formatted the hard disk in the same way and apart from X: whole disk is formatted.besides that diskpart can't detect X: either in the hard disk or any other drive.

Formating will not DELETE the Linux code, CLEAN ALL will.

X is not remnants of the old OS, it is the DVD itself.

The error normally means you have bad installation media. Where did you get Win7?

If retail, clean the DVD with a soft cloth with outward motions. Or extract the ISO with ImgBUrn to write to flash stick using this tool with Win7 in the dropdown menu: Universal USB Installer – Easy as 1 2 3 | USB
Pen Drive Linux

If downloaded ISO, confirm it's integrity then burn another DVD using ImgBUrn at 4x speed with Verify, or write to flash stick.

You may need to wipe the HD (not format) as Ray says.

Reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

Finally the problem was fixed. The .iso file I had taken initially had one folder missing. I downloaded again, then got the problem fixed.
Now enjoying win7 Thank you all for the suggestions.
