I was sent a link to download a copy of windows 7 enterprise to see if we want to go down that route. I built a new system to put it on around an i5 760 CPU. The installation goes fine till the system reboots. The installation hangs with a message "windows is updating the registery" I tried leaving it overnight with no result. I have tried redownloading the copy of windows 7 and recutting it to a dvd again no change. I am using a dvd rw but would have thought that wouldn't make a difference. Any ideas where I'm going wrong??
The link that you were sent to download a copy of windows 7 enterprise???? Is that a microsoft site?
If not then it is most likely a pirated site and unless you like to live dangerously, I would not use any files from a non-microsoft site.
Best to get a legitimate copy if your really interested in a fault free version.
YMMV

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
I have two computers running Enterprise from my Technet account. Was your DL a 32 or 64 bit version ? On re-boot, it most probably is a hardware problem. Disconnect any non-needed USB devices & extra monitors, until the install fully completes.

Then in BIOS setup, set SATA controller to AHCI to try install.
Unlug all other HD's and peripherals.
If continued fail, try install from USB flash stick. Easiest method is UltraISO trial: On file tab Open ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, Format, Write. Boot under USB or HD's.
