I had a disc for Windows 7 that I could not get to work.

I copied it to a flash drive and was able to launch the installation process with no problem.

The process got to the installation step -- Copied files, but never got to the "Expand files" section.

Any ideas?

The disc would not open on my computer, but did on my wife's computer.

So I copied it to the flash drive and used the flash drive on my computer.

Are you sure the dvd is bad? Or could it be just a problem with my machine reading the disc?

Looks like it can only read the first part of the disk but does not complete the setup.
