Hello,
Guys, I must have a solution for that because I'm treating with this installation for about a week (and a lot of re-installations).

I'm trying to install Win7 on my PC.
I'm getting a black screen right before the language screen is suppose to be shown.
This is happen right at the beginning : the white installation line is running in the bottom of the screen and then a Windows logo appear, right after that suppose to be the small window with the language selection, but instead , I see a black screen.

I CHANGED the cd's for couple of times, this is not the cd.
I also copied the image to a flash drive and tried to install from there - Stuck exactly at the same phase.

Please.... someone... Help ....

sometimes that screen can take a VERY long time to appear (mine takes about 15 minutes). i would say to wait at least a half hour.
if after a half hour, the menu doesnt appear, but you can hear the dvd being read, try opening and closing the dvd drive without restarting the computer.

This is where I'd check first, where did the original image come from, re-burning DVDs from a bad image will do you no good and putting the same image on a USB stick doesn't change anything.

Where did you get Windows 7 from?

It's not an AMD video card.
The CD is Ok because I check it at my friend's PC and installation work just fine. I also tried couple of CD's.

I don't think that it's a memory issue because if I installing XP is works like a charm.

kword88 - The Harddisk and the CD-ROM stop working, I also tried to wait more than 15 minutes and nothing....

Have you tried the video card in another PC to make sure it works?

I can see where people are coming from with the video situation but this happens after 'preparing to start windows for the first time' when the installation tells the ATI card to switch back to VGA. You then get a black screen with a white cursor. Removing the DVI output fixes that.

This though is at the very beginning of the install - If I remember rightly quite a few people fixed it by switching to a traditional mouse and keyboard (not USB)

So ISO if you are using a USB Keyboard and mouse then swap them for a traditional set up. If you are already, try removing them as the white bar loads (to test) Also remove any other non critical external devices you have attached.

Problem has been solved

I did try with ps2 mouse and keyboard and it didn't help.
Anyway the poblem has been solved by installing XP and then upgrading to WIN7 from the XP itself.

Thanks everyone.
