Hello all,

I'm trying to install a new install on my HP Pavilion dv7 1129wm. The hard drive is newly formatted and partitioned, but when I install windows 7 Ult 64bit, it go's thru all the installation process but when it reboots, it go's thru the whole process again and again. Anyone knows how to fix this problem?

Thanks

Are you tapping the key when prompted to boot from CD? Don't, after the first time - you shouldn't even have to do it then as the DVD should autostart on blank HD.

See if you can boot into Safe Mode to update the display driver. Boot the Win7 DVD Repair console to see if Startup Repair can bring it up.

Or try inserting the vid card driver at the Load Drivers prompt on "Where do you want to install Windows" screen.

Make sure you have the latest BIOS version update, set the SATA controller to AHCI first, then IDE if necessary.

Remove all but 2gb of RAM for install. Test you RAM using memtest86 for 5-6 passes.

Try wiping the HD first: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/91339-ssd-hdd-optimize-windows-reinstallation.html

Thanks for the advice. I'm booting and installing from a USB drive, everything loads and install, but when it reboot it gos right back into the whole installation again. I even tried taking out the USB drive to see if it would boot auto, but the cursor just flashed on the screen. I even went thru to the repair screen but it said no errors. I fix computers but I have never came a cross a problem such as this. Anymore advice would be appreciated, Thanks.

Try another method writing ISO to flash: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/31541-windows-7-usb-dvd-download-tool.html?filter[2]=General%20Tips

How to: install Windows (any version from XP to Win7) from a USB/flash drive | Featured | dotTech

One that always works for me is using UltraISO trial version Bootable tab to write ISO (loaded on File tab) to flash stick, using format button first.

Try wiping the HD using method I gave accesssing command line at bootup.

Unplug all other USB devices, check for newer BIOS version, SATA controller setting.

I will give this a try. Thanks again.

Try installing to your new HD on another machine. I do this when I run out of time to troubleshoot a problem install.

Most times it will start up when switched back to problem machine, swapping out all drivers while requesting several restarts.

If not, you will at least know your installer is sound.
