Windows 7 internet browser problems

Hi, I have been having some problems with my internet browsers for the past 5 or 6 months. They are really slow and sometimes don't load, then I have to refresh the page a ton and it eventually loads slowly and not surely. Speedtest.net says 10mbps. Video Games play fine, with no lag at all, and my friends computers are fine on my internet. My system came with vista and i upgraded on the windows 7 release date. Somebody please help, I cant stand this anymore.

Try another browser, Chrome is nice

or

Go to tools
internet options
advanced
reset if using IE8

This wll remove the addons, the probable cause.

If that does not work, it is probably not the browser, try this

It is with all browsers, chrome, explorer, firefox, opera, you name it. Thanks for trying to help though. ill try the microsoft thing though

bought the disc at walmart and installed it like anyother OS. But ill try that.

Clean install is always best.

There are probably easier ways to solve this problem, but it is suggested that a clean install is the best way to install the new OS>

Try clearing the cache, temp files and cookies. Run a program like CCleaner(free) to clean your hard drive. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

You know what. I upgraded (clean install) to windows 7 x64 from XP a few months back and that also seems to be happening a lot more to me as well. It especially weird that google search misses a fair bit and shows up as not there and needing a retry.

I was also trialing Chrome for a while and thought it might be part of the problem, but I have since gone back to firefox and it persists.

I also have a 10Mb ISP and get downloads at full 10Mb, but still more frequent than I would like web page glitches (google search especially noticeable).

Either there is a glitch in the 7 stack or perhaps an ISP issue.

I am on Rogers Cable in Ottawa, FWIW.

Yes, it will format your hard drive, which means you'll lose all data in your Windows. So I recommend making a back up of the files you want to keep.

Really guys. I think recommending a clean install to fix a browser connect issue is a bit extreme.

I did a clean install and I see a similar issue. I suspect ISP more than anything.

Ok, that is another interesting data point. But is that really the case or does it just seem that way.

Is any of those other machines a laptop. Can you put it next to your machine with the problem and then browse the same pages in the same browser on each.

I have the same issue spuriously, but I haven't it seen it much in days, so for myself anyway, I suspect ISP/internet issues (I only have one computer) .

one is a mac desktop on wireless and another is a macbook on wireless and the other is a macbook air on wireless. I can browse the same pages on the other computers with more speed even though speed test shows my wireless internet about......6mbps.

Im using two anti virus.

Mcafee (useless) and Stopzilla, which is detecting alot of "Fake antivirus" in the hundreds

The PSI scanner software says normal stuff like firefox and adobe flash and skype are security threats. what should i do about them, just uninstall them?

You say "McAfee is usless" ... Did it come pre-installed on your computer and you didn't buy it?

Download Microsoft Security Essentials, right now http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ update and scan ... We'll get rid of McAfee in a bit.
Also download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop
