Windows 7 is so complicated, should I change it?

DF, you miss-quoted, but I agree. I think what mjoakin is trying to do is make sure that whatever he gets is going to work without problems because it is made specifically for it. If The product says "for TV" and he uses it for a TV and it doesn't work, then he can't say "It says it's for a TV on the box!!!"

Yeap, one guy from a site told me that ... "errrr ... sir?, it does not says TV on the manual" ... but anyway, other technician (from another site) told me if my TV had the inputs, he did not see any problem.

BTW, my old TV is a regular TV, not LCD or Plasma.

Thank y'all. I will let you know the results!

Exactly. I understood that completely and understand your concern. The same with looking for the Win 7 compatible stickers/info. If its on there then it should work and if it doesn't then it doesn't "work as advertised".

I have to ask then....why would you want to output the video to a much lower quality/resolution device than the higher quality, higher resolution LCD that is built in to the computer? Have you ever seen PC video outputted to a regular TV before?

My PC's monitor is 18.5 inches, my good-old TV is 37 in, I used to have a Dell Dimension 8200 with a Nvidia Video Card connected to my TV, so I watched movies and TV programs in a bigger screen from by bed :D ... the resolution was very good. I hope my ATI card would give me the same quality.

Wow, I butchered that quote in my previous post. Anyway, if you are happy with seeing a computer output on a regular tube TV screen, all power to you, I hope you can find an adapter that works for you (seems like you've been given a link that does). When I think back about a computer hooked up to my 50" projection screen, I have to choke back vomit.

A projection screen is different, you know, the output in my TV (LG Flatron RP-29FA35A, it's a flat screen with the big box, I don't know how they call it), and believe me, the quality of the picture was the same as the PC's monitor.

I know they are different, but the resolution can't touch an LCD. Not even close. My TV was a 50" DLP and still looked like crap compared to my current 42" Vizio LCD.

Check your optional Windows Updates for newer device drivers.

Any drivers missing in your Device Manager can be found on the support Downloads webpage for 1) your computer model or 2) device model.

If the driver alone is not enough to operate the device optimally, then go to the manufacturer's website Support Downloads webpage to download the full 1) Win7 or 2) Vista software package for that device.

Example: Many all-in-one printers need the software to open their Scan utility on the desktop when you press Scan button - otherwise you have to use the built-in Win7 Scanning utility by rightclicking on the Printer in Devices&Printers.

Vizio? I was going to buy a Vizio LCD but I was not sure of its quality, I mean, it's a new brand in Mexico, never heard of it, is it good?

I have a Vizio and I can vouch for their quality, sure they are not the BEST out there, but it's definitely worth the price. As far as I know, people having consistent problems with Vizio are a small minority.

Vizio? I was going to buy a Vizio LCD but I was not sure of its quality, I mean, it's a new brand in Mexico, never heard of it, is it good?
I have four LCDs from them. One is the 42" I mentioned above, and I have two 19" screens, and a 22". I am very happy with all of them.

Here's what led to my decision. I read a ton of reviews, but the one that stood out from me was the one PCWorld did on 42" screens. My Vizio finished second to a Samsung. At that time, the Samsung cost $2300, while I paid $700 (brand new) for my Vizio. Is the Samsung a better TV? I'm sure it is, but I could have bought three of my TVs for the same price. Maybe a home theater snob would turn their nose up at my TV, but I feel like I got great value with the purchase. The built-in speakers actually sound quite good (for an LCD TV), and it was loaded with more inputs, like 4 HDMI ports, than most of the others I compared it to. I'm using all four, so that was a needed feature for me.

Sounds like a great review. What stop me from buying the Vizio was the contrast of the colors showed and that they only had it on 32 in, this was in Sam's Club, the guy who showed me the TV put a Sony Bravia next to the Vizio, and the Bravia had a better imagen, also, I did not like the screen/image turned grey on the Vizio when you change position ... but besides that, the resolution was great and the volume too, and the prize very good, but I had to chose between my "laptop on a stand" (that's how you called it) and the LCD, and the laptop won, since my old Dell keep on crashing, I will wait for Santa this Xmas and see what offers he brings ... LOL ... may be a 3D LCD

You can't ever trust what you see in a store. The Sony was a higher cost item, so they are going to show the higher cost TV as better. That's why you have to read reviews online form independent sources that have nothing to gain by your choice. Sony is on my list of brands to avoid anyway, but that's for another thread.

Yeah, those are expensive items, I'd had bad experiences with Sony products, I prefer LG, cheaper and great quality. I use to read reviews online, but it does not always work, I've found bad and good reviews from the same item and at the end there's nothing clear.
