Hello everyone, I have had Windows 7 RC 7100 for a couple months now and I seem to have some recurring issues that i would like advice on.

First, I have my computer go into Sleep mode after a period of time and then it freezes, so when i go to awaken it, the pc wont respond and i have to hit the reset button. This happens probably one out of every two times my PC goes into Sleep mode.

Second, Every so often when i start my computer and select Windows 7 from the boot menu, something happens. Im not quite sure what but ill try to explain it. Windows wont load at all and sometimes it just shows the mouse, somethimes it shows nothing at all, and sometimes it shows the mouse but it disappears.

Both those things have happened occasional even after i reinstalled. What im really wondering is are these problems just the RC's bugs or a problem with my hardware and will installing the current retail version fix these?

I know its alot but I figured you guys here can handle it. ;):D

Thanks in advance.:)

Hi there, it doesnt look like a RC bug. Have you updated the chipset driver?

Check for memory dump files:
Upload Dump Files:
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
{Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service - then post the link to it.
Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): Set MiniDump

If there aren't any, then update your chipset/motherboard and storage drivers with the latest Win7 version (don't use the Vista version without checking back with us).

Here are the dump files and how would I go about updating the chipset drivers?
Im pretty sure all the drivers that came with my motherboard are only for vista.

Go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and check for Win7 drivers. Asus has very few Win7 drivers available for the M2N - so it's either use the Vista one's, or see if you can locate the appropriate Win7 chipset drivers at Welcome to NVIDIA - World Leader in Visual Computing Technologies

FWIW - I looked up the nForce 4 series the other day (it's under Legacy) and found that it was not Win7 capable. BUT when I went to the download for it, the download did specify that it was for Win7 - go figure!
Here's a link to it: NVIDIA DRIVERS 15.49 WHQL

And, interestingly, this component of your nVidia drivers is older and needs updating: nvm62x64 nvm62x64.sys Fri Oct 17 17:01:06 2008

Not much else available from the memory dumps, so post back if you get any more (and we'll try other stuff).
Here's a summary of the 2 that I analyzed:

Thanks for the drivers, im installing them right now, see if they help. As for this part in the quote, im not quite sure what it means.

It's another reason that your nForce chipset drivers need to be updated (it further supports my initial statement to update them).
