Hi Rich,

Well. I am one to try and experiment as much as possible to learn the advanced settings in all applications in Windows. It started as a hobby with my first computer in 1998, then evolved to a very special service for home users around the world. I am very pleased with the features and am very confident about using my remote desktop sharing software on W7 now. I had Vista on another HDD for dual booting but have recently formatted that HDD and now use it as a cloned copy of Win7 and keep it tucked away as a backup. I keep another internal HDD 600 GB for backing up my C:drive everyday. Something I so passionately try and convince all computer users to do but most learn the hardway and lose their data to a bad infection and a non-bootable OS.

Speaking of backup! This built utility for Backup and Restore in W7 is superb. I destroyed my data 3 times (on purpose) and used the Win7 Book Disk to copy the image and user files onto a corrupted HDD, a formatted and HDD and non-formatted HDD. The non-formatted HD created a hidden partition with the boot ini so even if the system is formatted on the C:drive, the 100 MB boot.ini will allow a user to boot to the Repair Prompt and navigate to their backup image. Very cool!

Back to the topic at hand. Yes indeed, Win7 has some amazing features for us advanced users to explore and have fun with----the library is impressive. Knowing you can add and name any folder you like allows fast navigation like never before to important, fun or production files. Home Group is excellent too, though I use a stand-alone computer, I do help others with their networking during remote sessions.

Your forum and several others have made my learning curves through the years a lot easier than in the early days of W95-98. Combine your forum with the infinite gateway to knowledge "Google" and people like me can really find our answers quickly when we help someone with their computer problems around the world.

Nice to be a member and I will stop in from time to time and see if I can help someone with their questions too.

I run W7 in classic mode during productivity time, but enjoy a saved theme with all the bells and whistles in AERO mode. Just wonderful GUI and so far I cannot say one negative thing about Win7. Doubt I will because whatever glitches may exist, the MSVPs and advanced users of the world will have the fixes posted in no time.

A great bounce-back from Vista to Win7, very similar to the days of Windows ME being buried under the rug just before the release of Windows XP. But after a year of a new "solid" operating system--people will forget Vista as they did ME and simply enjoy this OS for years to come....
