In other words, how would Microsoft know if you sold or gave away your license? You paid for it, go ahead and sell it.

If it's a retail Windows 7, then yes you can resell it if you like. However, since it was activated on your computer, the new owner may need to do a phone activation when it is install on their computer since it is still tied to your computer.
