I'm interested in this, ive actually tried a few vLited vista builds and made some of my own but the very common problem they had was the applying updates loop at windows logon it would loop infinitely on some lited builds with some updates that are installed, never found the solution or w/c update specifically caused it. It was also documented on the windows help but nothing about lite'ed builds though, just a specific update messing it up.

I see that people have been incquring about the lite builds and I feel that an explanation is in order. For the past week and a half I have been at war with my College. THREE DAYS before school starts that lost all of my paper work and it has been a fight to get them to acknowledge the mistake. The end result was me taking enough courses to fulfill full-time status and the costs came out of my own pocket. I didn't have enough money to live on campus also so I am staying at home. In the process I acquried half the jobs in their accounts and financial aid department due to incompetence but the state doesn't want to step up and cover their mistakes. On a higher note I am able to focus on school now and the reviatilization of the SFT Project. What better way to kick things off than to make another revision to the toolset (with a better readme and final polishing) and to release ZLite Edition either Saturday or Sunday? I am glad to see that folks are still interested in the project and I promise to make it worth while

man, just do it. show us the tools or something like that and we can do the lite editions. I dont care about the lite ed made by one or another. i just want to know how to do it without mistakes in the process. so ill try myself and make my own lite seven edition.

Well done.

Im pissed in waiting for help here and try to do it bymyself.

I use an pc like:
Athlon X2 5.000+
2x2Gb DDR800 in DUAL CHANNEL
HD 500Gb SATA
ATI RADEON HD 4650

OS is WINDOWS XP SP3 UPDATED.

Iv installed the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and 2, updated as well.

Iv installed the vlite final and the one before it. Its working without the waik full instalation.

Well, use the WINDOWS 7 PRO X86 edition to do the lited. I removed some drives, images/sounds/videos samples, speak support, tabble pc, screensavers, and some other fru frus.

The ISO now is about 1.20Gb and its working perfectly. All the stuffs are working, the media player, media center, dvd maker, stuffs from windows 7 pro, and everythink is working without errors or issues.

The OS is working with more speed and its better then the full ISO. Better in speed...

The lite is note finished yet. I will do some changes and remove more shi$#% that nobody uses or care about. When its donne I will upload the ISO in some sources and bring you the links.

-> IK choose the PRO but I will do it with the ultimate and home premium too. The deal is to have ISO about 900mb with full os stuffs and functionalities, without errors or issues, and the most speed in lite category. When its donne, Ill compress the ISOs with UHARC or KGB to get the smallest files possible.

And relax, I think the ISOs will be made using the us official release, not the ptbr translated.

Just for concern...

The process of extracting the win7 pro from the full ISO take about 2 minutes. The hole process of removing components, drives, etc, take about 5 minutes, without errors or issues.

I noticed that with the win7 rtm final, the vlite works better than with the other versions of os.

I recommend you to take a try it.

Make your own win7 lite edition and have fun.

vlite works very well on 7. You can do more fine tuning with Dism , if you like - but for most purposes, vlite on it's own will do the job.

If anyone wants to share what they have done - just attach the Last Session.ini to their post. It is in the vlite Presets folder.

Ok, I have a problem here. I can't upload a 1.2gb file so I will post here the sessions ini files and explain what can be removed and some other tweaks.

talking about dism.. I cant find this app and some tutorial like an how to. Can you explain how to use it?

By the way, my windows 7 pro lite is about to be more lited. Right now te ISO has 1.2gb. The deal is to have the ISO with 900mb (maximum package size), with all the features in win7 and no issue.

Im using this lited here, to post right now. Lite, fast and tweaked as I wanted to. No problems until now.

There are no performance gains that are not otherwise achievable in a full install. The gain is reduced usage of system resources in the baseline.

The performance can be better when some tweaks are made in the lite iso.
