Solved Windows 7 login issue

Hi, this is my first post here but this forum always shows up in my search result :shock:

I googled over and over about my issue, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

Here's what is happening:

since I installed Net Framework from Windows Update every time I start my notebook, before I can type my password, I have to click on the account picture even though there is only one account

I know it may seems sick to ask about something like this, but it's indeed really annoying!

I found something about "Control userpasswords2", but that would bypass the typing of the password too.. and I need it.

I read this tutorial, but that's not what I'm looking for.. maybe I didn't explain well enough, it must be my poor english

Anyway what I would like is that when I power my computer on my user account is already "selected" and I have just to type the password to log in.

As I was trying to explain, now I have to click on the account picture before and then type the password in.

The reason this is happening is because some of the .NET stuff sets up another account of some type. Even though it doesn't display on the welcome screen. It is hidden. But the welcome screen doesn't see that at first. So when the PC starts it looks like there are 2 or more accounts. Making you click on the one you want to log into.
Yes very annoying. With XP you could do something about it, I forget what now but I thing it was with the Powertoys TweakUI, but with 7 that option isn't available (I know I've been searching for a way to hide user accounts. For another reason).

Just uninstall the most newest updates and that should fix it until MS comes out with a update for the update.

I tried what Carolyn linked, but unfortunately that doesn't fix my issue..

So you're actually saying that there's no way to fix that yet.. mh.

I'll google some other time hoping to find something, I'll let you know.

EDIT: and what if I delete the user profile created by .Net from registry editor?

Well you might not have to delete it from the registry.
Open Run or type in the search box on the start menu.
control userpasswords2
Then hit enter. That will bring up a user accounts dialog windows. See if the Net user account is there. If not then go to the advanced page and in the center area click the advanced button. That will bring up Local Users & Groups. Check in there for any new users or groups.

I didn't check this thread until now 'cause I didn't work for a week!

I just powered up my notebook and the issue is fixed :shock:

I think it may be related to some changes I did followings your tips, the one about the classic logon screen.

So thanks everybody! I think somebody could add a note to that tip to say that it solved my issue too
