Solved Windows 7 login problem

Hey everyone, today I turned on my laptop to find that the login screen does not apear. The computer will load the first boot screen but when the login screen should show up, a black screen with my cursor apears. I cannot login normaly or through safe mode. Ive tried all the advanced boot option with no avail. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Run chkdsk and sfc from the Recovery Console:

How to run chkdsk or System File Checker (SFC) from the Recovery Console

• Boot your Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD
• When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", press Enter
• At the "Install Windows" screen, click on Repair your computer at lower left
• At the System Recovery Options screen, make note of the drive letter assigned to your boot drive (normally C and click Next
• At the Chose a Recovery Tool window, click on Command Prompt. You will be sitting at X:\Sources directory
• Run chkdsk or SFC
  • If you did not note the drive letter of your boot disk, you can enter bcdedit and look at the osdevice line to see what it is.
  • For chkdsk, type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter (use the letter from above if not C.
  • For sfc, type sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows and press Enter (use the letter from above)

Let either run to completion undisturbed.

Make sure you get the same version you have installed: 32 or 64 bit; Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate.

Choose one that goes with your OS bit version . Save the file to a USB Flash drive

32-bit Version OS :ar: Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

64-Bit Version OS :ar: Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64

   Note

Click the rb: button and right-click Computer .Select Properties . Look for System Type: which will say 32-bit Operating System or 64-bit Operating System

Plug the flash drive into the infected PC.

Enter System Recovery Options.

:ar: To enter System Recovery Options from the Advanced Boot Options:
Restart the computer.
As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until Advanced Boot Options appears.
Use the arrow keys to select Repair Your Computer menu item.
Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
Select your user account an click Next.

:ar: To enter System Recovery Options by using Windows installation disc:
Insert the installation disc.
Restart your computer.
If prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc. If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or DVD, check your BIOS settings.
Click Repair your computer.
Select US as the keyboard language settings, and then click Next.
Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
Select your user account and click Next.

:ar: On the System Recovery Options menu you will get the following options:

• Startup Repair

• System Restore

• Windows Complete PC Restore

• Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool

• Command Prompt

Select Command Prompt

In the command window type X:\FRST.exe (for x64 bit version type X:\FRST64.exe) and press Enter

   Note

Replace letter X with the drive letter of your flash drive.

   Tip

Type the commands below to see what your letter is for the USB drive and press ENTER after each command

Diskpart
List volume

The tool will start to run.
When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
FRST will let you know when the scan is complete and has written the FRST.txt to file

Upload the FRST.txt file

   Note

FRST.txt file will be inside the root of the USB Flash Drive

Is there anyway to fix this problem without using a windows 7 install disc? I have another computer but I dont think it burns discs :s

It says "The system cannot find the device specified."

To find your USB drive letter type in

Diskpart then press [Enter]

Then type in

List volume [ENTER]

Look for something that says Removable

Take note of the drive letter then type in Exit press [enter] you should see a message say leaving Diskpart ...

Then type in the drive letter with FRST.exe or FRST64.exe

X:\frst64.exe

Or

X:\frst.exe

Change the x with your actual letter of the USB drive .

ok that worked thank you, but now it says "the subsystem needed to support the image type is not present"

Download the one the goes with your OS 64 bit or 32 bit

FRST.exe goes to 32-bit
FRST64.exe goes to 64-bit

In the command prompt it says windows\system32 so I downloaded the 32 bit files and tried it twice and it didnt work, so I tried the 64 bit file and now its working.

Upload the FRST.txt to the thread

How To Upload a File
Click on the Go Advanced button under the Message box . Scroll down to Additional Options then click on Manage Attachments in the Attach Files sections . Click the Browse button locate the file then click on the Open button . In the Upload File from your Computer section click on the Upload button . Wait until it finishes uploading then close the window . Then click Submit Reply .

The FRST.txt log should be inside the USB drive . Remove it from the PC that is having the issue plug in the USB to the PC you're on and follow post #13 to upload the log file .

A clean installation? I didnt install anything new lately but I did have to reinstall windows 7 off the internet about a year ago and everything was running smoothly
