Windows 7 logo lag

Ok, so everytime I boot up my laptop the windows 7 logo is lagging (it already lagged the first time I bought my laptop)

My laptop specs:

Intelcore i5 2450M (2.5ghz)
4gb ram
amd radeon hd 6370m
intel hd graphics 3000

How long does it take for Windows to actually boot to the Desk Top. A slight delay in the loading process is probably not much to worry about.

Mh.. still need a solution... I mean it boots up fast but the lag is really annoying.

I have Windows 7 on an SSD & the boot up time is about 20 seconds. When it gets past the BIOS splash screen & it starts to load Windows, it just starts to form the Logo & then the screen goes black for the remaining time, until the Desk Top shows.

As far as I can see this is normal & nothing to worry about. It has been the same for nearly 3 years, without any problems.

I agree. I have a similar experience on boot up. A small amount of black screen is normal.

Incidentally, as I understand it, during this lag or black screen phase, Windows is querying the monitor and graphics card to find out which GPU connectors are populated, what resolutions the monitor and GPU can support, which GPU to use as a display (if more than one are present) and activation of the GPU's driver beyond the standard VGA driver that loads with Windows.

That's a lot of work to do in a few seconds.

By the way Chea, are you referring to the orbs on the Windows start screen stalling, or the wait after they have fully materialized into the Windows logo? The stalling you can do nothing about. All of my machines have done it depending on the graphics card in use and the speed of the processor/overclock. My main machine always does it. There is nothing that can be done about it.

That Black screen phase is also, in some cases, the time when windows is checking and populating Workgroup network shares and other mapped resources.

If all is well with the system and shares are at a reasonable level then the delay is very little, but on Workgroup systems where a system or so is not working and especially with domain controlled laptops working away from base, the delays can become significant as the system checks and re-checks, and eventually throws an error.

Because of the way that most people work we found the use of third party network drivers on a delayed start-up, could "cure" the delay as it actually happened when the user was on the desktop
