windows 7 mail

I have looked on my windows live mail for an area to stop my emails from opening immediately. Everytime I open my email the body of the message appears immediately. I don't want that, can anyone help?

Open WLM at the top click the 'View' tab. Then select Off from the drop down menu.

I found the view tabe, but I didn't see an OFF in the drop down menu. Also in Outlook express you had to compress your files, where or can you in WLM?

It automatically compresses it. On the view tab, up top there should be a 'reading pane', click that and there should be a drop down menu. If there is no drop down menu, watch the main screen. when you click reading pane, the reading pane will go away, click it again, it will appear. The calander pane should work the same.

Could you tell me how I can compress my WLM, like I did in outlook express? Or perhaps I don't need to.
