Bobright,

Sorry you have not received a response yet.

I have no experience myself with PS3's and unfortunately 'PS3' is too short of a word to use the search function of this forum. That being said, I also searched for Playstation and found few (unrelated) posts. I am also going to guess that not many early Windows 7 adopters have PS3's, but more likely have XBox's, as they are designed to be used with Windows.

Interestingly enough, even a search online for 'PS3 "Windows 7"' turned up very little (but did include this very thread) - adding 'Microsoft' or 'Sony' brought up even fewer results...

Perhaps Sony has a better forum for PS3 users?

There are 2 ways that i know of to get around your problem.

1 - Try Tversity, this little program will let you share media over your network and it's free. It works well with the PS3, the only downside to this of course is the PS3 itself :). I've done this setup more than once and it works well. The PS3 as a bad tendency of loosing it's way to Tversity but a couple of button click and it's back up. also you'll have to install the windows 7 codec pack to get playback on all your media. There are a bunch of option you can setup in there so you should read everything you can on the site so you get this running smoothly.

2 - Get an Xbox 360. It plays any format you like using media center and is faster than the PS3 for a lot of file types since there is no transcoding to be made on your computer before streaming the file.

Media streaming is where the xbox really shines, the ps3 sometimes as an edge on games but it's nowhere near as good as an xbox when it comes down to movie streaming

I also recommend TVersity. After being disatisfied with Windows Media Players steaming quality I switched, haven't had a problem since streaming to Xbox 360, Playstation 3, or other computers. :D

are you all kidding me, use PS3 Media Server u dont have to change any setting once u install it just run it and then turn ur ps3 on and then on ur screen (ps3) browse through the folders to find ur media that u would like to stream or copy over to ur system or you can even set up media folders which contain the media u have on ur pc to automatically show those folders on the ps3 soon as u hit the ps3 media server button...i like the browsing though ...anyway it works with xbox360 as well i believe by far this is the best streaming application for the ps3
