Windows 7 microsoft office activation key

hi im new to this site so please help me which any tips for wondows 7.
my main issue is that me and my sister bought a new laptop a asus K53U and when we bought it we asked our techno man about how to activate microsoft office. he said that when starting up office it should give you 3 options but we can only see 2 which include an activation key or buying it.

when i went tp pick my laptop up he already activated my office but my sister is havng the issue, we have asked him 2 times.

please help.

A lot will depend on what version of Office was on the machine, is this one laptop that you are both sharing or two machines, one each ?

Office installations pre-installed on PC's are 99% certain to be Trial installations.
It is possible to activate these installations by either purchasing a valid Office License, or by activating the optional (add-based) Starter Edition.

It is also possible to install a full version of Office 2010 (or other version) and to activate that.
There is NO such thing as a free version of MS Office - although the Starter edition may appear as such, it relies on advertising revenue, and may complain if ads cannot be served (I haven't tried that!)
