Every month I install Windows 7 updates comprised of a package of several updates. Updates
always install successfully except for the master update which is always named the same except
for ‘’YYYY-MM’’ and ‘’KBXXXXXXX’’ in ‘’YYYY-MM Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7
for x64-based Systems (KBXXXXXXX)’’. This master update always fails, requiring a time
consuming restore and restart.
For instance, this month’s master update was titled ‘’2018-07 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for
Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4338818)’’.
Is there a way to tell the update program not to include the master update?
