Windows 7 Not Genuine

Hello
I got my computer and windows 7 during christmas last year and in the past few weeks ive been dealing with this problem.
I get this pop up that says windows detects a problem that your system may be counterfeit. So i follow the steps it says to install and nothing.
It sits at the screen (for numerous hours) that says this may take a few minutes.
I know as a fact its genuine because my siblings got the same CD to install windows and it works perfect for them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

So, your siblings and you shared the install disk and the install key for windows?

that is correct.We are shared the disk and i believe used the same password i cannot remember its been a very long time.
But i know we purchased a disk to install it on 3 computers.

Sounds like somebody else used one of the keys. Did you get the CD from a reliable business or on Ebay.

It only takes 5 minutes max - if you can't spare that amount of time you have a problem!

You have a permissions problem somewhere – and it would appear that the SOftware Protection Service is in a paused state for some reason.

This WILL take some time - plan on doing the CheckDisk overnight, as it could take 2-3 hours.

Click on Start
in the Search box, type
SERVICES.MSC
and hit the Enter key - accept the UAC prompt if you get one.
Look in the console for the Software Protection service, right-click on it and select Properties.
make sure that the Startup Type is set to Automatic (Delayed Start), and click Apply.

Try starting the service now - do you get an error message? Does it start? does it almost immediately stop again?
Post back with your results, and a new MGADiag report.

If it doesn't start, then please do the following...
Please open an Elevated (Administrator) Command Prompt window and use the following commands....

net start sppsvc
sc qc sppsvc
sc queryex sppsvc
sc qprivs sppsvc
sc qsidtype sppsvc
sc sdshow sppsvc

copy and paste the results into your response, together with the EXACT error message you get when you attempt to start the service from the Services control panel..

You should also check the system for errors....
Click on the Start button
type in the Search box
CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
Select Run as Administrator
- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key
You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot. The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!

After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC

SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on the Start button
type in the Search box
CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
Select Run as Administrator
- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
At the Command prompt, type

SFC /SCANNOW

and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.

run another MGADiag report, and post the results.

I did exactly what you said, except the start button wasnt an option so i stopped and started again with no error message.

Sorry - I obviously wasn't clear - you'll need to do the command-line stuff again.....

Please open an Elevated (Administrator) Command Prompt window and use the following commands....

Theres the report after letting it run over night
I got the error windows has detected an IP address conflict.

OK - you have a permissions problem in the registry then.

(It's taken me almost two years to get where I am with the MGADiag reports, so call it a trade secret<g>)

Please note - the following instructions could damage your PC if not followed EXACTLY.
Create a System Restore point first!

Open Regedit
navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\sppsvc
and right-click on the sppsvc 'folder' in the left pane - technically it's a Key, but let's not confuse the issue

Select 'Permissions'
There should be four entries in the upper box
'CREATOR OWNER'
'SYSTEM'
'Administrators'
'Users'

Click on the Advanced button
Click on the Owner tab
'Administrators' should be listed as the current Owner - if not, set it that way, and back out to Regedit

Go to the Permissions again, and Advanced
in the box there,
Administrators and SYSTEM should have Full Control
CREATOR OWNER should have 'Special Control' on SubKeys only
Users should have Read control.

Put a Tick in the 'Replace all child object permissions....' box, and click on Apply

OK out, and reboot - then try the one-line command again.

make a note of any error messages you get and STOP! - cancel out and post back!
