So I just upgraded my Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and before I upgraded my computer recognized my Turtle Beach X12's as a headset and a microphone. When I plugged in my headphones on the new Windows 7 it only used them as a headset and didn't work as a microphone. How can I make the mic work? Here is a picture of it. I already tried showing disconnection and disabled devices as well. http://gyazo.com/f617c5f3e78f7151b376e80fb0cfd838 here is my picture.

The first thing I see is you only have "High Definition Audio Device" sound drivers. You need to install the Dell sound driver. The High Definition Audio Device is the generic, basic function Windows installed sound driver.

The generic driver does not show anything in the recording section, the Dell driver should.

There are two sound drivers listed for the XPS420 on the Dell site, for Vista (which will work for Win 7). The on-board Sigmatel and for those with the optional SoundBlaster there are Xfi drivers. Install whichever is applicable to your system. Whatever drivers you had in Vista are the same for Win 7.
