Hi,

I have installed Windows 7 RTM and everything is working just great for more then a month. But now I am experiencing some problems when I am installing larger programs or games. When installation starts, the system starts to freeze and I cant even normally switch windows or browse on internet. This lasts until the installation is complete, then everything comes back to normal. The same thing is happening on my laptop.

Does anyone know why and how can I resolve this problem?

Welcome gapipro,

We could use some more info so we can help you.

What build # & Version of the Win_7 ? Where did you get the iso file from ? How did you burn the DVD ? slow x4 speed ?
Any Over Clocking of ram or cpu ?

Please fill in you spec :)

sorry but your problems seems to be:

ASUS M2N68 PLUS
by ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
is the only Asus M2N mobo that is Windows 7 Certified.

Do you have the same antivirus on both machines? Or other similar app on both? Try to find a common denominator amongst the machines you've setup. There will probably be a culprit. Any beta softwares?

Are the HDDs highly fragmented? Defragment them if so.

Besides the possibilities listed you also have only 2gigs of ram. How much is free at idle and how much is free when installing?

Actually I believe this is the problem since we do not support or condone piracy.

But are you using 32 bit or 64 bit

Well, it's not necessarily piracy (in a legal sense) to download and install a valid unaltered copy of W7 RTM, whatever the download source. What would make it piracy, IMO, would be to then use an activation crack or improperly obtained activation key. There's been no evidence presented in this thread (so far, at least) that that kind of piracy is involved here. And there's no evidence (so far at least) that that kind of piracy is the cause of the issues reported in this thread, although it might later to turn out to be the case.

I was just stating that we as a forum do not support piracy even though I have seen some individuals on here that do.

Then I went on to offer my help :P

I'm sorry. I read your post as stating that piracy was the cause of the problem described here.

Nice that you responded.

Snuffy, why should the motherboard cause any problems? It doesn't matter witch mother board is, because there is no direct connection to OS that is running "on" this motherboard.

torrentg, yea I use NOD32 on both computers and other programs like iTunes, M$ Office, VS 2008 Pro, Adobe suite.
All disks are 0% fragmented so this couldn't be the reason.

zigzag3143, one computer has 2 GB the other one has 4 GB. And when they are at idle they use like 60% of memory but when installing they use like 97%+ of memory.

mckillwashere, oh I forgot to write down that I have 64 bit version. And it's not piracy because I haven't used any of the activators or anything illegal.

Okay, One reason you see such high memory usage is 7 has a different style of memory usage it pre-loads commonly uses applications but drops them immediately when that space is needed. But I still dont see or understand why it would be freezing up during application insallts unless you have an incompatible mobo. Except for this when I reinstalled & on both my laptop and desktop at the same time I forgot to get my keys. So I had to install without imputing a key which is what I assume what you did. I could never get a video driver to install right and It seemed like everything acted weird until I activated it and rebooted. Btw my machines still aren't the same. I'm considering reinstalling again and imputing the key during install to see if that makes any difference.

Surely you are aware that mobo's do have DRIVERS for devices.
Now if your MOBO is not supported by nor is compatible with Win 7 RTM (maybe it worked on beta versions). HENSE DRIVERS are over 95% of the major BSOD or problems with Windows (any version) and x64 is worse.

so I'm back to two things...
1. you say your DL version is from TBP. could be borked.
2. your mobo is NOT WIN 7 COMPATIBLE. THEREFORE your drivers are not either.
3. In fact Win 7 HCL does not ever say your mobo will have problems, it simply is not compatible.
