Windows 7 Not Updating

I did a clean install recently and Windows updates wont work. I was able to install some updates like SP1 but now the Windows Update windows simply stays the same saying "checking for updates".

Interestingly last Wednesday the updates seemed to work with the automatic updates; it download and "installed" 200 or so updates but when i restarted it said something to the effect of Window Update failed... reverting changes. A few of the updates did actually install but i still cannot get most of them.

I have deleted the Windows History Components via a command prompt tool which i no longer have the link for. I did a Clean-Boot along with totally uninstalling all anti virus and firewall software to be sure and then ran the Windows Update Diagnostic tool found here https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb...68-021e32467565/windows-update-troubleshooter but the program continually stays at "detecting problems... checking for online updates". I have let this run for three hours to no avail.

I really want to avoid having to reinstall windows since that take me around 15 hours and i may just encounter the same issue. What is my next step please?

Summed up Manually install KB3020369 & KB3172605 in that order
When manually installing updates you need to switch your update settings to Never check for updates and restart the machine first.

Which the last you have to get it at the catalog using internet explorer

Here are the first two to manually install
KB3020369
Win-7 32 bit

KB3172605 newest update client is in this update but KB3020369 is required to install it.

After switch your windows update settings back to what you had prior and manually check for updates and the rest should show up shortly.

IS there a way to really confirm that all my windows 7 updates are working normally because i have had to manually download "Microsoft Keyboard And Mouse" software which usually updates/downloads by itself and it is not a hidden update and i have manually clicked "Check for updates" but it says everything is up to date. Thanks

Are you referring to microsoft mouse and keyboard center ?
I used to have microsoft mouse and that software is not worth having
Mouse properties is a lot better.

I used it on a laptop and it wiped out my touchpad options page so I could not adjust my touchpad at all :mad2:

But yea that software would usually be optional but possibly it was dumped being offered through the update system finally it did nothing good for me even on a desktop it's just a different UI = User Interface.

You can run sfc /scannow but if windows says it's updated it probably is
Look through your update history for any failed listings
If you see a failed to install look upwards on the list to see if it finally did install later
Post any failed to install updates.

Which the last you have to get it at the catalog using internet explorer

I was just wondering if this is a absolutely necessary step or if I have to follow this last step because there is like a million instructions considering things you need to do if you experience any of the possible errors with this download in a very long list of instruction to follow of which I do not really understand. The instructions on the download page it says you may have a network error or several other errors as well. I just don't want to make my computer problems worse. I have already downloaded the first two downloads and I am wondering if the last download file from internet explore is absolutely necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
KB3125574 is an unofficial sp2
It will get you updated through April 2016 in one update
So you would run a risk of many failing to install updates going through roughly 250 updates at once instead of one that excludes a lot of superseded updates.

I have upgraded from W 10 to W 7 ultimate.
To be honest W 10 is great when working o/k apart from M S taking control over your P C with the bombardment of updates.
I installed W 7 a week ago and since then have been trying to get the updates to work your method done the trick now i have about 130 + updates to get through.
A gain many thanks just wish i has joined this group a week ago.
