Hello,

I am creating this new thread completely aware that there are many similar threads regarding this matter, sadly though, none helped. The problem occured after a bunch of updates on my Windows 7 platform (.NET framework 4 messed up my Windows Phone Emulator v.7.1 included in Windows SDK package, ATI Catalyst Management stopped working etc).

My user account is an Administrator (have disabled the built-in administrator). I tried those gimmicks suggested in other similar threads like locking/unlocking my taskbar, going to taskbar properties and messing with "Always show all icons and notifications one the taskbar", restoring default icon behavior, turning on/off system icons, restarting, etc.

Note that I can tinker with the notifications normally if I go to taskbar properties -> notification customise button, the problem has to do with the notification arrow missing from my taskbar and that the windows 7 loads somewhat slower than before (freezes during user login). I would also like to mention that after the bunch of updates was completed there was a message error pop-up which I unfortunately clicked "ok" without even reading it (was a bit frustrated).

The bottom line is that some user personalisation data have become corrupted since creating a new user and logging in from there works completely fine and with no freezes during login (also notification arrow displays and functions properly). Since this is the third time I experience this problem after massive updates and since I would prefer not to perform another clean installation of the OS / transfering applications and data to a fresh account, I would like to ask if there is an alternative solution.

If you require additional information of my software/hardware system I am happy to oblige.

Reverting to a previous restore point, removing and re-applying .NET framework 4 update bunch and cleaning the registry using a couple of registry cleaning tools (Ccleaner, Wise Resistry Cleaner) solved the issues and the login speed is back to normal (no freezes).
