I run Win7 Home Premium on my Mom's computer [email protected], 2GB DDR1 and a 320WD SATA2 with a 128MB AGP Nvidia Quaddro, and everything works nicely, not the fastest, but way faster than the old XP SP3.

Yes 7 will work on it, even Aero. Intel has Windows 7 drivers for it,

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...rsion=Windows 7, 32-bit*&DownloadType=Drivers

chipset,

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...rsion=Windows 7, 32-bit*&DownloadType=Drivers

and for that old SB Live 5.1 this would be the best bet for it,

SB Live! series Support Pack 2.0 (04/30/2010) - Creative Labs

as there are no official Windows 7 drivers for it.

About the only thing you might want to do to it for Windows 7 is drop another gig of ram in it.

yeah..i have almost the same specs...w7 ultimate x32 runs pretty fine on mine...and the aero as well...but be sure to update drivers for your stuff if its old..

My Computer

OS
Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
I would try to upgrade RAM to at least 2gb for 32 bit or 4gb for 64 bit though they will run with half that. However RAM is cheap so why not get the amount which is most recommended?

The Win7 installer is driver-complete, with newer arriving quickly via optional Windows Updates when you enable hardware auto-updating: Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware

Any drivers then missing in Device Manager can be imported from the SUpport Downloads webpage for your computer or device model. Driver Install - Device Manager - Windows 7 Forums

I would not change out drivers otherwise unless there is a performance reason to do so.

Thanks for the advise gregrocker :) everything working absolutely fine now and i have installed everything freshly from partitions to softwares and yes im gonna throw in 1 gig of more RAM in coming days so the loading times would be better :) i'll get the identical module of RAM and it will run on dual-channel as well which is good. A lot of people selling DDR2's these days so i'll grab one from somebody for cheap ;) thanks everyone for the help here :D
