I bought this machine from a Registered Refurbisher. There's nothing on it except Windows 7.

I've not even switched it on yet, and I don't want to connect it to the internet with its trousers down, so I want to download antivirus and antimalware software to a USB drive via this computer and install it on the Windows 7 machine before exposing it on-line.

On this machine I have Malwarebytes premium and BullGuard.
The latter is a recent addition after uninstalling BitDefender with which I was dissatisfied.

Are there any known reasons, incompatibilities perhaps, why Malwarebytes and/or BullGuard shouldn't be installed on Windows 7?

I use Malwarebytes 3.0 on two systems without problems. I use it along with MSE.

I have never use BullGuard.

Thank you for that Jack.

Yes, Malwarebytes seems good, but I want antivirus software too. I got the feeling some time ago that Microsoft´s Security Essentials wasn´t very clever, so I´m looking elsewhere.
I might try something from Kaspersky.

When it comes to the choice of a anti virus, their are many.

Wait a little longer and you will probable get a bunch of choices from other members.

Who really know which one is best. I know I don't. I just use what has worked for me for years.

Like the Bear above I've never used Bullguard. And I also use MSE/Defender combined with Malwarebytes Premium on all My Win 7, 8.1 and 10 PCs. I only occasionally hunt Malware on torrent Sites for fun now, but for several Years I did it as much as 16-18 hours a Day. So from "My Experiences" that's a Combo that would protect most people and is really light on resources.

I also advise staying away from McAfee as well as Norton. Most "Security Suites" are just too heavy on resources, but I do use Paid Kaspersky on my Commercial Rigs. ESET NOD32 also has a good Reputation.

Thank you for your comments and observations.

I've installed Malwarebytes Premium on it, since I bought it and have it installed on this, Windows 10, machine, and I decided after a bit of Googling too, to give Kaspersky Internet Security a try on Windows 7.

It's a bit too soon to give a meaningful assessment of it, but it hasn't let me down or annoyed me yet.

Oh yes, some time ago I tried IOBit's fancy system care thing, but said goodbye to it fairly soon after installing it. I forget exactly why, but I didn't feel really comfortable with it.

I do, however, use IOBit's Uninstaller.

MSE is light, I've used it with Windows 7 with malwarebytes before. avast! is good though it's not as lightweight as MSE. I have already switched to windows 10 and i'm using windows defender now (which is still the same as mse).

I have a hp dc5700 sff refurb that still runs pretty darn well, except for a bit of a slow boot since I'm unable to add memory. I run Malwarebytes ***FREE, Avast ***FREE antivirus, and that super-duper ol' reliable performer" CCleaner ***FREE.

Let us know how those two work together.

It might be helpful to do a little research on the Malwarebytes forum about Kaspersky Suite.

Thank you Jack.

A search for "Kaspersky" on Malwarebytes' forum site coughs up a large number of entries. Many more than I have patience to read right now. I'll save that task until I have more enthusiasm.

I used Kaspersky Total security 2016 last year along with MWB, no problems. This year I upgraded to Kasperky TS 2017 and ditched MWB for Hitman Pro.
