Hi, I'm not 100% sure if it's supposed to be in this topic but i didn't find anything better(
Resently I've found a lot of system optimization products over the internet and a I need a opinion or a review which one to choose as they seem worthy. And i just upgraded to Windows 7 so i'm not even sure if they will work.
Can someone advice me of a best affordable system optimizer to buy or may be a website with some review or relevant information, that would really be appreciated.
Thank you, Nicolaj

Hi Micolaj and welome

My opinion is dont waste you time and money. Some may help, others will hurt. win 7 has built in tools to do most of the same things safely.

What are you trying to optimize?
  • The registry: At least most of us here at SF agree that reg cleaners are useless, if not risky
  • RAM: often times the RAM optomizers either move the programs in RAM to the page file (decreasing performance) or remove them completely (also reducing performance).

In my opinion, you can try Yamicsoft Windows 7 manager. It gives a 30 days trial-so you can try it for free.I have a review in this site, you can check it Here

My advice would be not to use any, because all the functionality can either be achieved manually with little time and dedication, or is overestimated and is not crucial
If it is simply information and reviews you are looking for try review site

Yamicsoft Win7 Manager and TuneUp Utilities 2010 would be the two of this category which I would place the most trust in. It's true one can do many of the optimizations they offer manually, but these utilities make some of these tasks a lot easier.

Also, I do think there is a benefit in cleaning the registry periodically and I find the TU U reg cleaner, in particular, to be very safe and not overly aggressive, and it automatically can undo any changes it has made, in the event one ever should encounter a problem.

I guess I would give a slight nod to TU Utilities due to its ongoing automatic optimization features and its "Turbo Mode"* which is pretty cool if you like to do gaming on a laptop like I do, however, I'm not a huge fan of the new interface they have now. But despite that, I find the program very useful.

On the other hand, Yamicsoft W7 Manager has, among other things, a very useful context menu editor that makes it very easy to disable (or subsequently re-enable) some of the context menu entries I might not like or want that some apps force upon you with no easy way to disable them. There are other apps that can do that (or I suppose one could manually dig around in the registry), but Yamicsoft's is the easiest to work with I have seen.

*(Turbo Mode shuts off the Aero interface and non essential services and initiates some other temporary optimizations with one click and then restores back to your regular settings with one more click. It can be configured pretty much exactly as one wants.)

If you can get CleanMem to work, its good. Other memory managers are useless, don't bother. They force Windows to clear out the memory after allocating an amount which can adversely affect the page file. As for cleaners, Tune Up Utilities is probably the best.

It's working well for me. I'm using the portable version and run it when I choose to instead of on a schedule. The first few times I ran it manually it didn't seem to do very much but from then on, it really makes a difference. Not as much as it does in XP though

Spend your money on faster hardware and more ram compared to vista windows 7 is fully optimized and does not need the sort of tweaking vista needed. You would notice a bigger difference spending that cash on hardware.

Here's a pretty good site for freeware utilities of all kinds:

Gizmo's Freeware Reviews

Some of the entries can be a bit dated though. Still, you may find some free software you haven't heard of before that works very well.
