I was trying to install a printer from a workgroup onto my windows 7 computer but it ask for a new driver. Because the computer the printer was on is windows xp. I check out the website for my printer driver it says to get it from the "Windows 7 OS Driver" Anyone know where it's located on the disc? Thanks.

Its an lexmark optra r.
when i go to network and get onto that computer with the printer and click on the printer it searches for a driver. No driver found pops up. And than the next pop up say
"file needed printer driver inf for lexmark optra r series. "
type the path where the file is located and then click ok.

Oh i just found the solution from another forum.

I found this info below and it might be a way to add printer as local printer, instead of as network printer. I do not think the Windows 7 OS is 64 bit--but this method might work anyway:

"For those trying to get an 32-bit XP machine to use a printer connected to a 64-bit Win7 machine:

– go through the “Add Printer” wizard
– choose “Local” printer instead of “Network” printer
– choose “New port”
– enter the path to the printer “\\Win7Machine\PrinterName”

It used my existing 32-bit printer driver and works fine. Good luck."
