Hello,

I am unable to select shapes in Windows Paint.

At the top left edge of the screen there is a small white square. The pixel icon at the bottom of the screen shows this as a very small pixel. Opening and closing Paint doesn't delete the "pixel"

Has anyone experience this problem before? Is there a solution?

Thanks

Your image area is set to little square 1px by 1px.
That pixel is your work area (default background in MsPaint is white).

Please go to File menu (Next to HOME ribbon), in that menu select Properties.
In Image Properties window click on Default button.

You can also try to drag that pixel while holding left mouse button and moving it to bottom right of the screen. It should expand.

Hi Neutron 16,

Thanks, you are absolutely correct.

After I calmed down and the few synapsi that still function began firing I discovered what was wrong - more by accident than academic brilliance.
