Windows 7 party packs begin shipping

Several Neowin members have reported that Microsoft has begun shipping Windows 7 house party packs from their house party fulfillment centers.

In an email to house party organisers Microsoft confirms that a 4LB package is on its way. Lucky blogger, Ian Cortina, wrote to Microsoft to complain the Caribbean region was not included in the promotion and received a complimentary US pack a little early. According to Ars Technica this was because the blogger emailed Steve Ballmer directly.

Yep, just got my email from UPS. Man, this is awesome...2 free copies of Windows 7 for throwing a party, and attending a launch event. I'm loving MS more and more everyday.

So if someone had about 50 guests, then would microsoft be providing the host with 50 copies?

The copy is for the host, not the guests. So only one copy (key) is provided regardless of the number of guests (0 to ~). The one copy includes 32 & 64 bit media. The one key is good for either version, but only one version can be (legally) activated with the key, just like retail.

I was under the assumption that everyone who attends the party gets a free copy but I guess not.
