Windows 7 Photo Viewer issue...

I have been taking a quick look at the new Windows 7 (like it so far) but I have one small issue when I view pictures with the standard windows photo viewer, every time I open a picture from a folder, the pic opens up behind the folder I loaded it from... annoying when I have to either go down to the task bar or aero flip to bring it to the front.

I thought it should automatically bring it to the front when I open the file, like all other windows OS right?

Is there anyway to change this?

Fwimbw, when I click on a photo file, windows photo viewer opens in the foreground just as one would expect on my system. I can't think of why it would be doing it the way you describe, but it is not normal.

Found "A" Fix

I had the same problem. I don't know why I even tried this but it seems to have worked.

After double-clicking the file I wanted to view and having it show up behind the window I clicked from, I noticed that the Photo Viewer was 'Maximized' to fill up my screen. I double-clicked the top window bar to 'Restore Down' which will show the window like it had been manually sized and placed where wanted on the screen. Doing that caused the window to become the top layer window as usual. Then, instead of using the red 'X' in the top right of the window to close it, I clicked on the top left of the window to bring up the window menu and clicked 'Close' from there. I double-clicked the exact same file and it suddenly opened up on top of all other windows. I closed it the same way and tested it again. It opened up again on top. I opened it and closed it using the red 'X'. It opened up again on top. So, after opening it once again, I double-clicked the top window bar to 'Maximize' the window to fill up the screen and closed using the top left window menu 'Close'. I opened the same file yet again and it opened on top of everything else as a maximized window.

I don't know enough about this stuff to figure out WHY it worked, but I thought I'd share the fact that it did work for me. Give it a shot.

Don't feel bad because mine won't even open a .gif file it's as if that file type has not been coded into the viewer at all and there is no way to make it open them believe me I have tried everything.

The worst case is when the uac prompt opens in the background behind other applications. Im not sure what the answer is though.

[FONT=&quot]I worked out its Object Dock v1.90 Build 536 that’s is causing the issue, when its not installed the selected pic always pops in front when they are opened, but when Object Dock is installed and running, it causes the problem.

Are there any other programs like Object Dock that might work better on Win7?

Same problem here when using Object dock v1.9 build 536 (latest build as at 12th Mar 2010), u may overcome the problem to certain extent by clicking > Configure Object (Object Dock Properties) > General tab > Miscellaneous Options button > UNTICK the first option "Prevent docks set to Always on top or Always on bottom......". After that, close the Object Dock program and restart it again. When you preview the first photo in a folder, it will stilll Open in the background, But second photo onwards it will open on top of the folder.
