Hi all,

I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my computer the other day and all was going well until this morning. I switched on my computer this morning and windows was not booting up, instead it was saying insert windows 7 boot disc. Following this i inserted the original windows disc and tried using all the repair tools but still this did not work at all. In the command prompt section i have typed in the following;

bootrec.exe/fixboot
bootrec.exe/fixmbr
bootrec.exe/rebuildmbr
bootrec.exe/scanos

but still not working. I think the problem is that the computer does not recognise there is an OS installed.In one of the repair tools it says install driver from HDD so i have clicked onto that and can see my program files, windows files etc through that screen but when i click 'open' on a file it does not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are my system specs;

If it's an MBR problem sometimes you need to run the startup repair a few times before it works. You could also try a system restore.

I've been trying the recovery disc all day and its still not working. Lost all hope lol. The original boot up message said "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key" however after using the original w7 disc and the recovery disc (same disc) it is still not recognizing w7 in the System Recovery Options as an installed OS, its just blank.

I've decided that i'm just going to install w7 again but as an upgrade, so my files dont get wiped. Don't know if it'll work or not, but its my only option now.

ohh and system restore doesn't work either as it can't find a restore point on the HDD.

Installing Win7 as an upgrade over itself is a repair. It is one of the suggested fixes for problems.
