Hello Everyone,

I have an interesting issue happening right now to my dell D630.

while working on my Windows system it will hang for about 40-45 secs.. everything stops, I can't type but the mouse still active. I am able to move the mouse around but when i click on stuff nothing happens.
while the system is hung up i see the Hard drive activity light flashing as if accessing the drive.
Then all of the sudden the system just starts to work again and the hard drive activity light goes off.

now, my system is triple boot.. which means I also have installed MacOS Lion, Windows 7 Pro, and Linux on same drive.
This problem only occurs while using Windows.

I have my windows fully updated including Svc Pack 1

I even deleted my windows installation and re-installed a fresh copy on it.

I know this shouldn't be a triple boot issue as i have another Dell laptop which is also triple boot and this issue is not present.

Is it maybe a hard drive issue ? I do have automatic paging file enabled and managed by windows.

here are my Specs

Dell Latitude D630
1440x600 intel Graphics X3100
4.00 GB Ram
Intel Core 2 DUO T9500 @ 2.6 Ghz
OCXVortex3 240Gb SSD

Thanks in advance for any help in this issue.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply..
Before I made this post I decided to try a few things to try and solve on my own.

Windows update .. it processed all updates no problem.
I have Resource monitor open..
CPU = Normal
Network = Normal
Memory = Normal
Disk = Graph shows full

Is there a log i could access to see whats hanging up the system ?

Thanks

My prime suspect would be a bad/failing spot on the hard drive. The triple-boot has nothing to do with it other than establishing you have at least three partitions. It sounds like there may be a bad spot in the Windows partition. That partition isn't normally accessible while you're booted to the other two OSes, so it's not unusual that you don't see a problem when booted to them.

Maybe you can check if OCX has a diagnostic program you can download to test either the entire disk or at least the Windows partition.

I'm not familiar with OCX, but if they're related to OCZ I seem to recall a number of early OCZ SSDs suffered from serious reliability problems.

By the way W7 HATES to be behind another OS, suspect its having fun trying to figure out the boot >>OS<< load order
make W7 the primary OS.

If the disk is full, you must make some space on it.
Fist run disk clean up. There is an option to clean all restore points but the last one. Also mark to clean service pack and updates.
Then install CCleaner and do a disk cleanup. On CCleaner options - Settings, un mark the fist 4 options.
