Windows 7 problem starting upon uninstallation of 3rd party software

I tried uninstalling the bloomberg desktop software from my win7 professional last night and that's when my nightmare began:

First off, the uninstallation wasn't smooth. After I uninstalled the main program, there were still patches of auxiliary programs left and I had to un-installed them one by one. Win 7 did complain that some of the components were not there or program not found but eventually they were all removed from the windows program list.

Unfortunately when I tried to reboot, my PC would go into this debug mode whereas the system can't 'fix' the problem automatically. I tried looking into the log and noticed the following:

Number of root causes = 1
Startup repair has tried several times but still cannot determine the cause of the problem

Then a bunch of checks which yielded error code 0x00 which seemed normal.

Then I dig deeper and noticed the following:

Problem event name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem signature: 6.1.7600.16385

Worst part is that I can't even recover using the system recovery as I'm missing some files from the bloomberg file holder.

Any idea please? I must admit I'm NOT a fan of bloomberg software at this point.

Bloomberg is known to be extremely difficult to remove successfully.

If you have the win 7 dvd you can do a repair install.

Tx. But looking at your instructions as well as poking around myself a bit, I think the repair install procedures would assume the current version of win7 on my PC somehow boots up, which is NOT the case for me. At the moment, the PC starts, then get into this debugging mode citing the error as I mentioned earlier and keep getting into some various 'rescue' options, including:

-automatic fixing (which doesn't work)
-recover to last check point. (this one doesn't work neither as I'm missing some bloomberg files!)
-restore to image that I backed up earlier. (no go as I underfortunately didn't do any backup of the windows drive. Just the data! :-( )

Plus some other options which I can't remember at the moment. But basically I tried all options and no luck.

I would HATE to have to do a fresh install but looks like I'm running out of options. What did Bloomberg do to screw this up SO BADLY???

Debugging mode? what error or popup does it display?

Have you set the computer to boot from the DVD?

I do believe you are going to (and would be better off) doing a clean install.

Yes, I set the BIOS to boot from DVD first and I did hit some key to instruct the PC to indeed boot from the DVD drive. It basically got to the start up screen, whereas I have a choice of either doing a clean install (installing new copy of windows) or doing a repair install. Selecting repair install would essentially take me back to the point where I mentioned in my initial post.

Yes, it does look like I might have to go thru a clean install. It just sucks that instead of going out and enjoying this festive seasons now I'm stuck at home wasting time doing the clean install. Credit to those at bloomberg for coming out w/ such a piece of software...

It's beyond imagination to think that an established firm like bloomberg would continue to have such a serious bug in their software. I guess their rationale is once you're no longer a customer, they couldn't care less???

I am clueless about them. I just clean up the mess
