Windows 7 Question

My friends SSD failed on him so he had to get a new SSD he lost his windows 7 disk so I wanted to know if it's possible to install windows 7 from a Flashdrive he also doesn't remember which version of windows he had so if Installed windows 7 pro on his SSD and the product key we enter in is from windows 7 premium will it work?

No you'll need to use the same version as you have a license for, which will then activate with the Product Key on the COA sticker or retail packaging.

Download and burn to DVD or write to flash stick the latest official installation ISO for your version from here and write to flash stick using tool also provided: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164. Even if it is retail I would still follow those steps because you will have a perfect install for as long as you do.
