Windows 7 raid driver

Hello all,

I had to move the hard drive that I installed W7rc on to a SATA port that is configured in the BIOS as a raid. Now it will not startup because it needs the raid driver installed.

How can I install that driver?

I have tried "Startup repair" and it tells me it can not fix the problem. I tried to do an upgrade and you all know what it said. Must boot into that os first then do the upgrade.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

Configure the port as non-raid in bios, unless you are running an array with it already.

You could try and and I say "try" because you could lose data etc..

It's up to you to decide for yourself to do this or not. In plain English, it is your repsonsibility should you choose to proceed. And this is only a suggestions on my part, not fact or anything that it will work.

Backup your data somehow first. Very important.

Put the HDD back to the port it was on. Boot to Windows. Update the driver to the raid version for controller. It will probably say it needs a reboot. Tun off the machine. Place HDD on the raid you just updated. Try to boot to it.

Sounds great if I had a "setup.exe" for that raid driver but all I have is an "inf" file and when I tried to right click it and then click "install" I get the message that it can not be installed that way.

I want to thank you for your interest in this and will post back here if I do find a way to get to work. Right now I am doing what this poster is: http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/...rs-bsod-boot-if-raid-ahci-mode.html#post12753

Use device manager. Right click controller, update driver software, browse, let me pick, have disk, browse.

Find the .inf now.

torrentg, it did not work, W7 says I have the latest driver for my ATA device. Looks like I might have to buy an addin card so I can add SATA ports to this computer.

I'm a car guy but I got "a great deal" on my system and I want to upgrade it to make it a cool lil machine that can rival the one with fancy cases. Eventually this will be my HTPC. I might keep it all this this case as I become more experienced to give it that sleeper look
koch1ar, that is impossible to do because I only have 4 sata ports and they are all on the raid setup. Only option I have now to use that drive is to turn off the raid in bios.
