Windows 7 - Random BSOD

Help, please. I beg you. I'm pretty computer illiterate and my laptop fails to start Windows.

Windows simply wouldn't load, and so I tried to restore, but that failed so I had to reformat, but that didn't fix the issue either. While I was setting up the laptop, as if it was just taken from the box, it needed to restart to continue installing Windows important updates and then failed to start Wndows yet again.

I can't follow the exact BSOD - Posting Instructions, since I can't get on that laptop in Windows to download the software suggested, but I did copy the following down onto a piece of paper between BSOD crashes, and hope it means something to someone that can possibly help me.

It says BOOTMGR is missing now. I don't even understand what's going wrong or how?

Do you have an install DVD or a recovery DVD ? Can you tell us the make & model of your computer ?

Hello, thanks for replying. I did make the three-part Recovery Disk when I first got it. I used them to restore it to factory settings, but that did not fix the issue, it seems to have gotten worse. It's an HP Presario CQ61-411WM.

That's a good laptop, I have one somewhere in my computer collection.

See if you can run startup repair 3 times in a row. Most of the time that will repair the BOOTMGR.

Or, run Startup Repair for three separate times, with restarts after every single run.
Startup Repair: Run three separate times.

When it is fixed, Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Someone helped me to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch, rather than just factory restore. So far it looks to have solved the problem.
