I wonder if a certain driver is causing the hang.

Try updating your graphics card drivers, in Device Manager. Find your card, right-click on it, and select Update Driver Software.

Also try a system files repair. Open an elevated command prompt and enter sfc /scannow.

Hi Juggalotus, I have suffered the a similar hanging issue which I have solved. After going through loads of different versions of drivers, what I did in the end was replaced them all. It seems like adding drivers after the fact seems to break the installation order requirements. This may by no means solve you issue but it;s worth a try.

WARNING: It may appear that everything has stopped working, give it time.

In Device Manager, delete, yes delete/uninstall, Microsoft ACPI Compliant System. The effect is immediate. All your USB devices, your graphics cards and any other periferals you have wioll stop working. Windows will attempt to reinstall this drivers and eventually get to a point where it asks for a reboot.

You will not be able to provide this reboot, unless your bios/power settings all the one touch power switch shutdown. None the less. Just hit the rest, but only after it asks for a reboot.

Now when you machine reboots make sure it's connected to the net and leave it to reinstall all the drivers. You can follow the progress in the "task tray installing drivers" window. At the end of it you may have to reinstall your prinater driver, everything else should reinstall on its own.

This solved my hanging issue. Good Luck.

found the problem. said to hell with it since it was still in warranty, sent it to hp, they said it was a PCB Failure. Im guessing motherboard failure or HDD failure
