Windows 7 RC: Media Keys on HP Keyboard Not Working

The multimedia keys (play/pause, next, eject,...) on my HP keyboard are not working, the only keys that do work are the three volume keys. Also I have a media center remote that came with my computer that does work for all the functions including play/pause. Can anyone help me fix the media keys on my keyboard?

Visit HP's website and download the driver set for your keyboard. Input your PC's model number on their support section and it will list a bunch of drivers. Your keyboard should be one of the options. At least that's how it was when I had a HP branded PC.

*Driver Update Notes:

The temporary files can be found by typing "%temp% in the Windows Explorer address bar or Run command, access the folder with the .tmp extension created the time you extracted the files (it no longer starts with a "{" sign).
The driver installation files are found in the "src" folder.

The driver installs the generic keyboard drivers in C:\HP and the multimedia drivers in C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\KBD. You can use this information and additional information found in the KBD.bat file in the "src" folder to verify the installation was complete in addition to using the keys on your keyboard.

Alternatively, you can use the driver that can be found on your HP recovery disc set you should have created. Insert the first disc (I think you want the src folder) and you'll see a list of folders that start with "APP..". You can copy that folder to your desktop and run the appropriate Install.exe from there to install the drivers shipped with your system.

I have an HP dv7 running 64 bit Win7, and I found that you can access the top row of function keys with <shift> F5 (for example). This is also needed in legacy DOS games like Doom.
