Windows 7: Readyboost

I have a question about ready boost and scratch disks. Is it the same thing or what?

I got a tip from eee forums to put your scratch disk on the sd card, but how would that work if I'm also using ready boost on the sd card?

I use it on my old system all day every day. With only 512 MB RAM it make a BIG difference.

I see in this forum coversations on ReadyBoost for Win 7. I have Win 7 version 7, and I cannot seem to find the program as I could in vista. Is it available now on my computer and I am too much of a dolt to figure out the hows and wheres? Or do I have to wait for the 'official' version to hit the 'back alleys' of the internet. Also, does anyone know any other ReadyBoost type programs for Windows 7 as well as a Fax program you would reccommend? Thanks!

Latest builds seem to prompt for Readyboost when you insert a USB device.

Haven't needed it so far myself however.

I have a max of 4GB showing up in Build 7077. I'm not sure yet whether it is helping...I'm using it on an old Thinkpad T43 with 1.5GB of memory.

Yes no more 4 GB limit, and now you can use multiple devices.

If you're running a low-powered system, there is simply no way you can use all of your existing ram, let's say 1 GB, and another 4 GB. Much less even 2 GB of RAM. The other components of the system would be too stressed, such as the hard drive or the processor.

I've tried using both 1 an 2 flash drives with capacities of 4GB and 16GB. I can't tell any difference at all (but, then, I've got 12GB of RAM to begin with).

Perhaps it is not implemented yet.

I had been using a 4gig stick with Vista Ultimate and the light inside the stick was always flickering. The same stick now hardy ever light up, but it does a little at boot, and cannot figure out the difference, or even if it is working. ReadyBoost has been enabled for that drive Anyone else notice this?

Check your BIOS boot sequence. If you have USB enabled and before hard drive, it will always check any USB device plugged in for boot directions.

Build 7077 allowed me to use the free 12GB on my SD card, although I'm only using 4GB.

I am having problems with readyboost. I will enable the 2GB flash drive. It has enough speed. Everything runs fine for a while. Then it says there is not enough space to use it because there is a READYBOOST file on the stick? I have to format it and enable it again. I am going crazy trying to figure out what to do. It keeps quitting. Has anyone else seen this?

Vista Readyboost was not a vanilla for those with Ram 512+...they meant it to use for boosting system with low spec...any idea for win7?
