Hi there,

I got banned for posting this over on Gizmo Freeware Forum for no reason after their website tutorial which didn't answer my query told me to specifically make a post there; so I hope you guys are a little more friendly...

Basically as the title says the PC is resuming itself from sleep. Following multiple guides, no devices can wake the computer, no scheduled tasks are allowed to wake the computer which leaves me fresh out of ideas. Could anyone please give me a few more things to try and solve this?

It boots up roughly 0600 GMT every day give or take 30 seconds each time and sometimes during the middle of the day, between 1100 and 1300 GMT.

Thanks in advance. :)

Bumping.

Literally, as soon as I left the house, Event Viewer said it resumed from sleep. Again, Unknown source. Really beginning to irritate me now!

And it happened again this morning, like seriously. I've even disabled wake timers in the power settings! CMD says there's no wake timers, the wake history is 1 but there's no wake source. NO devices are allowed to wake the computer. Very irritating if I keep losing sleep because I'm being woken up by the loud boot of big fans!

Power options are already set as so, with Avast you might be onto something, I was out today and Avast said it had an update at 12:34 (when I was out of the house) and sure enough PC was on when I came back. I set it to ask when an update is available so will see how that pans out. Cheers for the help! :)

With Avast there is a setting to Wake the computer for a scheduled scan.
Maybe that is set, and is waking the PC.

Also check in Power Options, make sure Allow Wake Timers is disabled, but it`s probably the above mentioned program.

@ DavidE,

Its not the scheduled scan i was talking about, its the definitions updates, for which there is also settings option, (believe it can be anything from every hour to XXX).

Uninstall Avast for a day, it`ll at least rule it out, or disable every single option it has.

None of my AV or MW programs are set to a schedule, I do that manually, except for updating, it`s set to that once when I turn on the PC and that`s it.

It sounds like you have everything in Windows is set to not wake the PC.
I would check BIOS settings and make sure Wake On Lan (WOL) is disabled, if you have that option/setting.

Also, from an elevated command prompt run this command to see if there are any requests:
powercfg -requests

Annoyingly Avast was not the cause of my problem.

Looks like I'll be trying this. I looked at cmd and it listed no requests.

Everything in the BIOS related to turning on the PC is all off too. Did a full system virus scan as well and nothing found, as hoped on a new HDD. I really don't understand anymore.. o.o
