windows 7 recovered

Hi guys I received a new unit which was supposed to run on a windows 7 OS, 64 bit. When I started it, I could see a black screen with a flashing bar. I was advised to install a new OS which I did. When I rebooted the system I noticed that there are 2 window 7 OS. The system could boot from any of the window OS I chose very well. Recently, the other windows is OK and I don't know what I did, one of the OS is now labeled 'recovered' but when I boot from the one labeled 'recovered', the booting runs through the normal procedure up to the password prompt. After I have typed in the password the system ends up with a black screen with no applications. What could be the problem and how can I fix it. All the important applications for my work is on this section of the OS.

When Win7 won't boot you need to first Troubleshoot Windows 7 Failure to Boot - Windows 7 Forums.

The steps given try everything possible to start the OS, but if it can't show you how to copy out your files, and run factory Recovery and Reinstall. You jumped ahead to do that without even trying to repair and now you have two installations.

Please boot into the Win7 which will boot and post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk management drive map with listings, using the Snipping Tool in Start Menu and we will help you sort this out. Screen Shots

You can also copy out your files externally from the Win7 which will boot by browsing to them in Explorer. Click the Start Button, then Computer.

Hi Gregrocker, the NVR I received was a to-be assembled unit. it even came with its win 7 installation disk. So after we assembled it we started it up for about 3 time and all we could is was a black screen with a bar flashing and it occurred to me that the unit need to be installed that is why the disk we sent with it. Actually the system work well for about 3 days. I don't know what happened, now I have this problem.

Double check all of your connections since you assembled the PC yourself.

Reset the BIOS to defaults in BIOS setup. Set SATA controller to AHCI to try install. If this fails try IDE mode. Try setting HD first to boot in BIOS Boot order, then trigger the DVD using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first screen.

Then wipe the HD using Diskpart Clean Command from the Win7 DVD: DISKPART At PC Startup

Then boot to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 using these same steps for your retail OEM DVD.

If it fails post back the exact step it fails at from this tutorial: Clean Install Windows 7 and any error message.

Yes, everything will be wiped.

If you want to try to save your installation by every means possible, copy out your files externally, etc. all of the steps are in the Troubleshoot Windows 7 Failure to Boot - Windows 7 Forums link I posted earlier. Since you didn't respond to any of the steps so I could interact to help you complete them, I gave you steps to reinstall, too. However completing the steps in that tutorial will lead up to a Clean Reinstall if they are not successful.
