Windows 7 Reinstall Issue (DVD/USB Tool not bootable)

Hello. I am currently having an issue while trying to reinstall Windows 7 on my Pavillion laptop. I have already formatted the drive, and when the system formatted that, it also formatted all of my USB devices. This has become quite a problem for me because the reinstaller was on that USB, and as soon as it formatted, it crashed, leaving me without a way to reinstall Windows (No DVD drive). I attempted to use my old, inch thick Windows XP (gotta love it) laptop to redo the USB installer, but any time I try to do it, it cannot make it bootable. (Yes, I have tried all the online help options, and have also tried on my Windows Vista Desktop). After about 12 times of trying this in various different configurations, I have also got an error message flashing up quickly (Something about NTLDR) before the computer shuts down. This has happened once out of all my tires, the rest of the time it has said that there was no bootable media in the system. Currently, I only have my Windows XP laptop to work out of, and can do nothing on the computer. If pressed, I can probably find one of my old Linux USB booters, but I don't think that would help any. At this point, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly which tool/s did you use to create a bootable USB?

Try this method on the XP computer:

1. Download YUMI and run it.
2. Scroll to the bottom of the list and select the Windows installer option
3. Browse to the Windows 7 ISO (make sure it comes from this site)
4. Once its completed, plug the USB into the other computer, and then boot from the USB to install Windows 7

I used UNetBootIn and the official Windows Download tool. I will try the program you recommended right now.

Another method which always works for me is UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive

Alright! YUMI did a fine job creating the USB, however the installer ran for some three hours, then informed me that Windows 7 could not be configured to my hardware. I'm really stumped now.

There is no way the "system" could have formatted all of your USB devices since you must select each one to do it individually, with plenty of warning that it will delete data.

This is also why its always best to keep all other drives and peripherals unplugged during any install or Startup Repair.

In this case I would start over with a new ISO provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
and use the tool provided to write to flash, or UltraISO if that fails.

Then wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command to get it cleanest, from the Win7 installer Command Prompt accessed via Shift + F10 at first screen when booted, or System Recovery Options.

Format an Active partition for the install as shown in Step 2.2 of SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation.

If this isn't enough then enter BIOS setup at boot to reset the BIOS to defaults, check if you have UEFI boot devices which means you'll either need to follow the extra steps in UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums or Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7.

Once again, when using DISKPART and only selecting C:\, it formatted the USB drive that I just bought, and now I have another issue. When trying from a clean ISO, my computer informed me that they were the exact same files, so in essence, I am now back at square one, and I am now down two USB drives.

I would seek the help of a qualified technician to do this work for you

Why are you down two USB drives. Just write the completed ISO download to the stick using UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive which always works when others don't. Choose the correct stick from dropdown first before formatting, checking it against the letter given to the stick in Computer. There is no way another drive can get formatted if you do this.
