Hello,
I have recently been getting error messages from my computer (running Windows 7 x64bit) when I open any program or go to log on or log off (except Google chrome). The error message says,

"C:\PROGRA~2\IMESHA~1\MediaBar\Datamng… is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support."

The error message window has the title *whatever program*.exe - Bad Image.

I have tried un-installing and re-installing other programs the error appears for, but it even appears when I open the windows calculator for example. Here are the titles the error message has had but all have had the same message as above.

splwow64.exe
spinstall.exe
wevtutil.exe
SSText3d.exe
LogonUI.exe (Occurs every time I log on or log off or lock the computer)
AtBroker.exe
calc.exe
userinit.exe
dwm.exe
explorer.exe
rundll32.exe
WinMail.exe
unregmp2.exe
regsvr32.exe
StikyNot.exe
Dinotify.exe

I have tried running various virus scans and malware checks and checks with Spybot. Any suggestions will be gratefully received as this is a vital computer as I am doing my A levels!

Thanks in advance
S

I have just followed the Tutorial steps.
When done, message says " Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation".
But it is still error message " ... Bad image" .

I have run command SFC /SCANNOW 5 times though and still "Bad Image". I guess that the "restore" earlier should be used. What do you think ? Please advise.
Thanks

Hi,
The PC is now in normal condition. No "Bad Image" is appeared on screen as I restored it back to the oldest point. However, a message says " The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program." Then I performed 4 times SFC /Scannow as suggested. Could you tell me where can I get those setup files from ? and what is next step? Thanks.
Have a great day.

restoring isnt the ideal fix..... cos when i started getting this ..restore points were deleted by the threat i had in my pc... search for softwares installed in your pc..... you'll find a fake backup software ...that cause the bad image error ...so that you are fooled in to running a backup from that software (i had "my pc backup" in my pc - dont even rememba installin it)...After uninstalling this ..the errors have gone...

system restore resolved the issue for u guys ...cos the pc was restored back to the point when this was installed...

i had done numerous virus scan , scannow, registry fix.... but the issue was resolved by this minor solution

Malware Fix (worked for me)

Finally found the problem...at least on my computer. Turns out there was malware running that eluded 3x antivirus programs (Malwarebytes, Windows Defender, and Symantec). When I finally went to system restore I found the problem. By pure luck the system restore failed because it could not copy a file from the restore point because that file did not exist...because it was Malware. That Malware file was C:\ProgramData\Performancer\Performancer.dll).
I ran Malwarebytes again and sure enough it had caught the program but it was unable to delete the program entirely and so it continued to persist. I then searched for and deleted the "C:\ProgramData" folder which only had the "Performancer" file in it. Next, I used the control panel to search for and Uninstall the "Performancer" program. Sure enough it was there but would not uninstall. I went to CNET and downloaded IObit Uninstaller which worked like a champ. Finally, I searched the entire drive for remnants of any ProgramData or Performancer files, which were all gone, and ran all three antivirus software programs again just for good measure and rebooted.
No longer have “Bad Image” popups at start or when opening programs. Hope this helps. Cheers.
