There are two drivers related to the CPU; the other appeared in driver verifier. From what I read, the AmdK8 driver controls a function called "cool and quiet," which is related to the fan speed I think (if it's not working, that tells me the hardware must be going dead). The other driver (the name slips my mind) I didn't turn off because it was present in safe mode, so I think that's the primary driver for communicating with the CPU.
You can't download it from AMD because it's loaded from the Windows 7 OS. It might be able to update, but I'll have to check.
