Windows 7 saying not genuine! When it is...

hey guys, i am having a issue with my daughters laptop. 7 just recently started to say her copy of 7 is not genuine when it is.

how can i fix this issue? i really don't want to have to reinstall it.

also a buddy of mine said i could possible use a loader to hack fix it?

i know XP, and Vista inside and out, but i cant seem to figure this out.

i have 7 ultimate x86 running on it...acer extensa 44xx. came with vista home premium x86 but i upgraded it to 7...

any more info needed just let me know...

Can you click on the not genuine star in the system tray and go online to check. Possibly the newer verification software has not been installed and Microsoft is just trying to force everyone to make their system available for the check.

When you say you upgraded it, did you install 7 over Vista, or did you format and do a clean install?

it is a retail dvd. got when 7 was first released.

i did it as an upgrade not fresh install...

has been working fine since 7 came out. until last week.

have not tried to recheck validation yet will do that soon.

Read post number 3 and if that fails phone Microsoft and they will fix your problem if your copy is genuine... Seen this before with other versions as it has happen with me and was corrected quickly from them... GL

fadedrs: Post back with Validation results. Also, your friend suggesting a hacked loader to resolve an issue with a legitimate version of Win 7 isn't much of a friend.

Zomby88: You might consider not jumping to conclusions, welcoming someone to the forum while implying they are running pirate software is really a nice welcome...

I didn't see you accusing anyone of piracy in your post either. However, I did run into Clutz a few minutes ago, and it seems she/he likes to but her/his nose in where it doesn't belong with snide remarks. Is there an ignore button somewhere?

You can do a fresh install if you can't fix what you have, and MS will help you activate the key. I had to do this today with a upgrade fresh install.
