Update after 6 hour TeamViewer-assisted reinstall
I'd like to keep a running account in the thread since otherwise helping via TeamViewer can cut out others who are helping or also wanting to learn.
I'm still not sure we ever got a booted install with the problems you had booting the disk, but if it's crisp and responds well without hanging or any issues it may be good to go the way it is. One way we can tell if it was run from C as I suspect is to look in the C drive for a windows.old folder. This may come in handy since it archived the entire previous OS including all of your files in case you need to retrieve anything later. We can then help you delete it once sure you have everything.
Edit: Windows.old is there, 300gb and infected. Latest connection proves that spyware had eaten the last OS. Some of the converter, downloader, etc. bundles she wants installed set off MSE.
Maybe you can set up your online email you said you wanted to start on internet Explorer so you get that going. If you don't have one in mind I suggest Yahoo.com or Outlook.com mail which offers unlimited storage for free.
If you need help copying your files back into their folders I can demonstrate that for you if you ask. I suggest using the Documents, Pictures, Music, Downloads, etc folders under your C:\User Name as this organizes things where you can find them intuitively.
Make notes using the Sticky Notes I put on your desktop/taskbar for any programs you notice are missing and want. It's going to be important to limit yourself to the recommended programs so you dont' get into another situation where spyware eats up your browser as it had, so I'll show you how to install programs like these without allowing anything else to sneak in.
