Windows 7 (screen resolution?) problem...

So, I recently updated Windows 7 when I turned on my computer. When I logged in, the screen resolution was acting... funny.

This is what it looks like now:

I edited the black stripe at the right in, because that's what my screen looks like and my snipping tool wouldn't put it in the picture. Also, the taskbar is trying to hide from me. So there's an unused inch of screen down there. What do I do?

First things first, what have you tried to remedy this?

Also is this a desktop or a laptop? Are you using an external monitor?

No matter what your specs, my PC is better.
Is the screen resolution set to the correct native resolution of your monitor?

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I had to go out for a lil bit. Anyways, I have a laptop. And I've tried changing the screen resolution and changing the theme. Nothing.

It looks like that. It's like the monitor has shifted a bit. (I have a laptop)

Have you tried reinstalling/updating the video drivers. Does this happen in safe mode.

Yes, yes, and yes.
Try a LiveCD Linux distro like Ubuntu. Does BIOS screen look the same? If yes, then is a hardware issue relating video card or the laptop screen.

I'd suggest scaling, except that only occurs on HDTVs and usually makes the entire screen appear zoomed in, rather than just the bottom edge and a black stripe down one side.
